Frequently Asked Questions

When was Addison Flyers formed?
The corporation was created and the first airplane was purchased in April/May 2007.

How much is the airplane per hour?
For N7430Q (fixed gear): $45 per hour, DRY (i.e., operator pays for the fuel used), plus tax;
For N756RV (turbo-retractable): $80 per hour, DRY, plus tax.

Is the cost per hour Hobbs or Tach time?
Tachometer time.

Are there daily minimums?
No, but members are requested to fly 1 hour per day per reservation on weekdays and 2 hours on weekends.

How many reservations can members have on the schedule?
Members are allowed THREE confirmed priority reservations, with no more than TWO in a single month; More may be scheduled, however, any reservations beyond THREE may be subject cancellation with advance notice.
** We have had zero scheduling problems with our current member/plane ratio.

Will I have to sign documents for the airplane financing, etc.?
All members of Addison Flyers LLC sign documents of financial participation/liability which legally assigns equity and liability for any outstanding debt of the corporation, including financing of airplane(s), insurance, hangar rental, etc.

Do you have insurance?
Addison Flyers maintains liability coverage of $1,000,000 and a 90% value coverage on the aircraft.

What are your insurance requirements?
For N7430Q: Minimum of Private Pilot Certificate, Airplane Single-Engine Land (ASEL), High Performance endorsement, and a checkout with a CFI; each pilot will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
For N756RV: A Complex endorsement, plus requirements in addition to those above. Contact us for more information.
* Addison Flyers may have additional requirements and may provide a CFI of our choosing (at member's expense) for a final checkout.

What are the minimum flying hours for joining?
We have no minimums, however, most successful applicants have an instrument rating.

What are your recurrent training requirements?
All members who fly our retractable gear airplane must complete Annual Recurrent Training with a CFI.

How do I pay for my membership, monthly fixed expense, and plane usage?
An electronic bank draft is preferred. Next in preference is a personal check. Paypal is also available to charge by credit card, however, credit card payments are subject to an additional administrative fee.

Who pays for fuel; how is that handled?
At our home airport, Addison, we use Landmark FBO to top off the tanks after every flight; those expenses are charged to the member. Away from our home airport, members pay for their own fuel.

Do you rent your airplanes?
Sorry, no. We are owner/operators, and our insurance is arranged so that only our owners operate the planes.
